Meet the Owner

My name is Erin Payne (the brand name makes so much sense now, right?!) and I’m the owner and lead maker behind all of Payne & Comfort’s products. Some of my favorite things include skulls (duh), dogs, plants, overthinking and astrology (I'm a textbook Virgo with a lot of Libra and Capricorn placements). I got my start on Etsy in winter of 2015 making hand warmers to earn some extra cash in addition to my full-time management job at a local boutique.

With the encouragement of my boss at the time, I started selling my products in her store. Wholesale opened up a whole new world of possibilities for P&C, and I slowly started working less hours at the store to focus on my business. About 3 years in, P&C became my main source of income and (after years of working multiple jobs) I'm so happy to say it's now my only job!

As amazing as it is to be a small-business owner, it's also extremely stressful at times. My relationship with self-care hasn't always been the greatest. I've always been a work-work-work person. I thought relaxation was a waste of potential productivity. I was constantly doing things for other people and spreading myself too thin. But after going through some personal, financial, and emotional trauma in my late twenties, I knew I had to make a change. I had to start taking time for me. It's still an ongoing struggle, especially during the busy holiday season, but I have a much better relationship with myself now than I ever have.

Once it clicked that my products were self-care items, I really found the heart of my business- I want to encourage others to make self-care a priority. If everyone spent just 10 minutes a day relaxing with a soothing hot or cold pack, the world would be a happier place, don't you think? Can a flaxseed pillow really change the world? Probably not. But I can dream, right?

So heat up a socket sack, close your eyes, put your phone down and REST for a few minutes. The world (and this website) will still be here when you’re done.

I'm eternally grateful to every single person who shops, shares, or otherwise supports my small business. It will forever blow my mind that people use my products to feel good, and that, in turn, makes me feel friggin' awesome. Thank you.
